DESS Aquaculture Shipping

Global aquaculture shipping operations

Fish welfare

Fish welfare is our highest priority, from the design of our vessels to the way we operate them. In combination with a high focus on hygienical measures, we achieve aquaculture shipping operations which minimizes potential stress on the fish ensuring a high-quality service being delivered to our client.

Flexible and innovative vessel design

Our vessels are recognized as being innovative and very flexible. They can easily be upgraded by adding more equipment into already prepared areas, both inside sheltered decks or directly onto prepared areas on external decks. They have a high level of technical redundancy to ensure our vessels can continue to operate in case of technical issues.

All our larger vessels are DP equipped which, combined with the substantial offshore experience we have, makes us well able to support offshore fish farms in a safe and efficient way.

We care about our environment and have a high focus on maximizing the efficiency of our vessels, minimizing the use of fuel and reducing the emissions. We also mitigate the impact our operations may have on the local aquatic environment. All our live fish carriers are capable of operating in closed circulation mode where no water comes off the vessels while we have fish onboard. Our harvest vessel has also been designed to have no products or residues discharged to sea.

We believe in doing our part to meet United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals in achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. We focus our effort and environmental contributions towards the targets set in Goal #14 – Life below water and Goal#12 – Responsible.
